September So it's been some time since i played Battlefront 2 and i wanted to jump back in, take things where i left off with my MP progression. I left the game last year for the same reason i did today The game takes minute just to "optimize shaders" for the menu alone Loading a SP map? MP map? That did it for me. I have NO problems. But spending like more than 30 minutes just to play a crap MP game in BF Go to Solution.
Update - Adrenalin Edition I had my game uninstalled for obvious reasons. Results - Same bug occurs under DX12 - Shaders take eons to load.
So i reverted back to DX11 just for tests and whaddaya know! Stable framerates - a bit lower than DX That would seem a lot ofc Game is stable now. So far ive been playing some MP and SP. FPS was above 70 all the time. I could say this new driver is a defo WIN without a doubt.
Also NO "shader optimizing" present on DX11 whatsoever. Maps load almost instantly [the game is on a SSD as well] - This driver is a keeper fo'sho. Now i cant speak for the green side Nvidia guys? Sorry i guess DX12 is still "bugged" on AMD side as well. DX11 got an upgrade I'll just stick with DX11 ftm.You can follow the discussion here and here. Battlefront II is truly spectacle to behold. Environments are lavishly detailed, characters are rendered with photorealistic accuracy, and everything looks like it just stepped off a Star Wars backlot.
Those visuals can tax even a fully armed and operational gaming rig, however. The bulk of our benchmarking took place during a firefight on the forest moon of Endor, with dozens of rebels firing at us, an AT-ST scout walker chasing us around the map, and groundcover as far as the eye could see. It offered a decent cross section of the elements that push your PC to its limit.
Your processor and RAM play a role, but your GPU is going to be the factor that really determines your framerate from moment-to-moment. For each of these brackets we ran through our benchmarks on each graphics settings preset — Low, Medium, High, and Ultra — at p, p, and 4K resolutions. First, a big surprise — expensive cards are quicker than less expensive cards!
It runs well on each of these graphics cards if you stick to 1, x 1, resolution, aka p. Naturally, once you step up to the mid-range with the GTX and RXperformance improves by a huge margin. Both cards were more than capable of running at Ultra on p. Things are a little trickier at p and 4K though. At p, performance sees a sharp drop-off for the lower-end and mid-range cards.
The GTX can still run the game well enough to play it, as long as you step down to the Low preset. The RXon the other hand, struggles even on Low.
For that card, you should stick to p. Your game will look nicer, and run much better. Stepping down to High settings on both cards saw performance climb up by a fair margin.Galmada hablaha waaweyn
The high-end cards slowed down a bit at p, yet they never stumbled. These high-end graphics cards all proved they were more than capable of maintaining a playable and super-smooth framerate at p. Can they keep up at 4K? Moving on to the mid-range, the GTX and RX managed playable if not smooth framerates at Low settings, but stepping up to Medium or High is out of the question.
At High and Ultra settings, it fell below 30 FPS, which is pretty much the lowest you can go before a game becomes unplayable. Even high-end cards had some trouble at 4K, but each managed to maintain a playable framerate at High settings. This is the only card in the group that really offers enough power to reliably play Battlefront II at 4K on Ultra settings. While the game is playable at Ultra, stepping down to High gave us a substantial increase in performance.
The difference was easy to notice while pulling a barrel-roll in an X-Wing. That means you should probably keep this one at Medium or High, as stepping up to Ultra makes the game feel very choppy.

Shadows, another setting we end up turning down pretty frequently, are similarly hard to nail down in Battlefront II. In most other games turning shadows down means losing detail and making shadows blobby and indistinct. In Battlefront IIwhat you end up losing is smooth-edged details. Here, you can see that shadows become sharper, less smooth and natural at lower settings.
Battlefield 2 : Optimizing Shaders
Basically, what that means is they use very powerful technology to make shadows look liquid and alive. These settings have an enormous impact on your performance, as turning on PCSS shadows saw our framerate drop by 30 percent. HTFS shadows dropped it by 50 percent. Are you looking for the solution to your computer problem? Join our site today to ask your question. Now for customers they have to logon to a profile and can play battlefield from in there. Only problem is that it does the whole optimizing shaders thing everytime someone plays the game, regardless if they've done it on their account before. Im hoping there's some simple fix for this, that you can just stop it optimizing altogether, it's pretty stupid in the first place considering it adds mins to loading time!
Anyway, any insight would be appreciated, cheers folks. Running Win 2k Server here with Win 2k professional clients. Joined Jul 19, Messages 5, If the client computers logon to a network profile to play battlefield 2, and the profile is used on all the computers, and the BF2 information is stored on the win2k server and not on the individual computers, then shaders will be re-optimized because they are different different client computers.
Ie, is there anyway to tell bf2 that its optimized, like in one of the. Damn this is confusing! The other option i suppose is to make it a local profile on every machine - which is fine except that a customer will do all his settings on one machine and then have to do them all again on another.Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts. Install the game on a ssd but the game will still have loading times up to 1 minute. Thats the suffer of matchmaking games without a server browser. Try doing a repair on your library, you should see repair as an option when you choose the game. Fixed it. Apparently Dx12 was enabled and that caused it.

What shaders are there before any 3D scene is even on there? Why does the progress bar fills and then restarts for about times for more than an hour, I could optimize these shaders mathematically by hand for this time period? It does not suggest any progress. This is a terrible UX.Gulperi 4 english subtitles
The game used to be running fine before I launched it today slowly but fine. I tried to reinstall the game 7 hours, thanks for the servers in Europe btwthe first launch is quick, I manage to play a bit and then the second launch is still optimizing those shaders. How is this possible? How is the game running the first time without optimizing anything? March - last edited March. There you must find a file called BootOptions:. Now, in multiplayer mode when the shaders are done being optimized, the game crashes to the desktop or its stuck and I'm unable to get to task manager to close the game. I rarely have any problems with any games.
